NEWMAN 41, CARRILLO 20

Max Pond threw four touchdown passes and ran for another as Cardinal Newman rolled to an NBL victory against host Maria Carrillo.

The Cardinals scored all their points in the first half in grabbing a 41-0 lead.

Pond connected with Bari Mims for three TDs of 15, 38 and 4 yards. He also found Brandon Borello for an 18-yard score. Pond was 12 of 19 passing for 207 yards and rushed for 24 yards, including a 9-yard TD run.

Keaton Kovatch led Maria Carrillo with 86 yards rushing and a 2-yard touchdown. He also led the Pumas' defense as a linebacker with 10 solo tackles and an 85-yard interception return for a touchdown. Free safety James Procsal recorded 11 solo tackles.

RANCHO COTATE 34, PINER 7

At Piner, Andrew Rush led Rancho Cotate's rushing attack with 131 yards and two TDs. He gained 131 yards on 11 carries and scored on runs of 52 and 15 yards. Rancho gained 271 yards on the ground.

Adding to Rancho's rushing totals were Cody Allen (eight carries, 38 yards), Josh McFarlane (10 for 37 yards) and Drew Silveri (four for 36 yards).

Allen helped put the Cougars on the board with a 25-yard TD pass to Ryan Decker in the first quarter.

Sean Mitchell scored on a 35-yard punt return in the fourth quarter. He also had an interception and blocked a Piner field-goal attempt. Mitchell Rowan kicked field goals of 27 and 31 yards and added four extra points.

Leading the defense were linemen Adam Murray (eight tackles, one sack) and Anthony Alicea (five tackles, one sack).

POINT ARENA 13, MENDOCINO 2

At Mendocino, Point Arena scored 13 first-half points.

DJ Egger hauled in a 64-yard touchdown pass from Jordan Washington for the Pirates' first-quarter score. Following a safety by the Cardinals, the Pirates finished off the scoring in the second quarter on a 7-yard run by Washington.

Washington completed 6 of 15 passes for 197 yards, giving him 813 yards on the season. He also rushed for 116 yards on 16 carries, bringing his season total to 980 yards with two games remaining.

Teammate Josh Oropeza carried 14 times for 134 yards for 1,006 yards on the year.

RV CHRISTIAN 52, CRISTO REY 14

At Santa Rosa High, Rincon Valley Christian had seven rushing touchdowns against Cristo Rey of Sacramento.

Brandon Toney rushed for 153 yards and three touchdowns, and Ty Cazet ran for 107 yards and two touchdowns on just five carries.

Toney scored on runs of 7, 38 and 22 yards, all in the second half, and Cazet scored on runs of 21 and 3 yards, both in the first half. John Khoury had a 24-yard TD run, and Jon Lee ran one in from 11 yards out.

Ben Jorgensen caught nine passes for 109 yards from quarterback Drew Bartholow.
