A driver and passenger were injured Thursday evening when their Jeep Cherokee rolled off the road while it was being towed away from a flooded road south of Windsor.

The two were believed to be teenagers, said Capt. Chad Costa with the Windsor Fire Protection District. Their names were not available.

Their Jeep had stalled on a flooded roadway near the intersection of Starr and Mark West Station roads. A Ford pickup was towing the SUV with a chain when the Jeep went off the road and rolled on its side.

Rescue crews were dispatched at 5:30 p.m. One of the occupants was able to get out, but firefighters had to cut the roof off the Jeep to reach the other, Costa said. One of the victims was taken to Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Santa Rosa. The other was taken to a local hospital by a family member.
