Monica Borowicz is the third in a line of Borowicz sisters who have dominated tennis in the North Bay League.

Unbeaten (13-0) with one match left, Borowicz sometimes feels the pressure of carrying on the family tradition, "but I just go out and try my best."

Her oldest sister, Kasia, was a four-time NBL champ and advanced to the NCS singles playoffs all four years.

Her sister Alexandra was unbeaten in four years of NBL play and was the first Empire girl to claim a section title.

"I have played with Alexandra a lot," said Monica, 14, of her sister, a sophomore at UC Irvine who was 22-9 as a frosh. "She still wins but I'm getting closer all the time."

Her toughest matches this year have been against Maria Carrillo's Delaney Hensley.

Monica thinks her ground strokes are the best part of her game, but Montgomery coach Mary Lehman said, "I don't really see any weaknesses."
