All City Meet postponed until next Friday

Friday night’s Santa Rosa All-City track meet at Santa Rosa High was postponed because of rain and forecasts of more rain at about the time of the start of the meet.

It has been rescheduled for next Friday, May 8.

It means that world class decathlete and Maria Carrilo grad Jake Arnold won’t be able to attempt to set a new Empire record in the pole vault. Arnold leaves Wednesday for Italy to compete in the Multistars Decathlon in Desenzano May 9-10.

Maria Carrillo assistant coach Greg Fogg said Arnold will still make an appearance at Heart and Sole running shoe store on Fourth Street Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and sign autographs.

Arnold, 25, a two-time defending indoor decathlon champ and two-time NCAA champ at Arizona, was going to try and break the Empire pole vault record of 16-6, held by Tim McDonald and Brett Hyatt while they competed at SRJC. Arnold’s best in the high jump is 17-5.
