Analy is joining some big boys in NorCals

Win or lose Friday night, the Analy boys basketball team is moving on to NorCals. Obviously, it’s better to be a section champ and maybe host a game or two in NorCals.

One fairly strong source for high school basketball is the site where rankings are given in the state by division and overall.

Check out Analy. The Tigers are ranked 20th in the state in Division III, but Bishop O’Dowd, the team the Tigers upset Wednesday night at home in what is being called one of the best Analy games of all-time, is still seeded No. 7 in the state. That means only six teams are considered better in O’Dowd in the whole state in Div. III.

However, the No. 1 team in the state, could be a potential road block for Analy in the NorCals — Sacred Heart Cathedral of San Francisco, a member of the Central Coast Section.

No. 2 in the state is Harvard-Westlake from North Hollywood and the No. 3 team is another NorCal school, Sacramento. The only other NorCal schools in the top-20 are O’Dowd, Miramonte (Analy’s opponent Friday), Burlingame of the CCS, Del Oro of the Sac.-Joa. Section and Piner at No. 17. Piner is obviously out of the mix as is O’Dowd.

Miracles do happen. How about the 1980 U.S.A. hockey team. Analy is feeling it.
