Big loss for Ukiah

Fifth-seeded Ukiah won’t have star senior tailback Marcos Hernandez when it meets No. 12 Ygnacio Valley tonight in the first round of the North Coast Section Division II playoffs.

Wildcats coach Chris Burris confirmed Friday night that Hernandez suffered a broken arm in last week’s 27-8 win over Elsie Allen. X-rays confirmed the injury this week.

Hernandez has rushed for 1,119 yards on 159 carries and scored 10 touchdowns this season. He also has 28 catches for 379 yards and two scores.

Hernandez had five 100-yard games and rushed for at least 83 yards in nine of 10 regular-season games. He had a season-best 174 yards on 18 carries in a 28-14 win against Maria Carrillo.
