Sol at a crossroads

After four years in existence, the Sonoma County Futbol Club (Sol) appears to be at a crossroads.
The club will hold a community meeting at 7 p.m. Nov. 5 at the Finley Community Center (2060 W. College Ave., SR) to discuss its immediate future.
The purpose of the discussion, according to club president Dave Kronberg, is to determine the level of support and interest throughout the community for the continued existence of the club. To move forward, Sol will need Board members and volunteers for several logistical and administrative functions.
Sol is operated as a non-profit organization and operated at an approximate $15,000 deficit a year ago.
Although the bylaws call for a Board of Directors consisting of nine members, several of those from a year ago have indicated they will not return.
Sol, started in 2004 as a men’s team, but it has evolved into men’s, women’s and a U-20 men’s teams.
The men participate in the National Premier League and the women play in the Women’s Premier Soccer League.
The agenda for the meeting:
– Introductions and discussion of purpose of meeting (Dave Kronberg)
– Discussion of club organization and mission (Kronberg)
– Review of men’s team activities (Ben Ziemer, men’s coach)
– Review of women’s team activities (Emiria Salzmann, women’s coach)
