Casa’s Nick Sherry: No varsity snaps, one scholarship offer

It will be interesting to see Casa Grande junior quarterback Nick Sherry play this year.
Sherry hasn’t taken a varsity snap. But the 6-foot-4, 210-pounder was offered a scholarship by Sacramento State after attending the Hornets’ camp this summer.
Sherry, a 4.0 student, threw 28 touchdowns and zero interceptions on the JVs last year. That’s pretty good.
Gauchos coach Trent Herzog says he doesn’t want to get too carried away about a quarterback with no varsity experience. Having said that, however, Herzog believes Sherry has Pac-10 potential.
“He’s the real deal,” Herzog said. “I’ve never seen a kid like this with his arm strength in this area.”
Casa Grande opens the season by hosting Ukiah on Sept. 11.
