Carrillo goes Super Jumbo

Many teams have a short-yardage package known as “Jumbo.” Maria Carrillo has one, too. But the one the Pumas unveiled in Friday night’s 47-7 win against Piner was a little more Jumbo than most.
After scoring its second touchdown, Maria Carrillo went for a two-point conversion and lined up with a backfield featuring three offensive linemen: 280-pound Tyler Smith and 245-pound Cory Goebel were the blocking backs and 270-pound Dan Farris was the tailback.
Farris got the ball and bulled his way in the end zone for two points.
“It was homecoming,” Maria Carrillo coach Jay Higgins said. “And we wanted to throw our big boy a big bone.”
