CAMP FOR A CURE

There are still a few openings for baseball campers wanting to attend the annual Camp for a Cure youth clinic at Casa Grande on Oct. 8

There will be two camp groups - for youths 8-12 and 13-15 - with the camp starting at 9 a.m.

The camp is loaded with Empire baseball coaches, both college and high school, and also includes pro scouts and pro players from the Empire. Camp organizers ask that all campers donate to the American Cancer Society.

Camp for a Cure will also include a session of batting practice and home run hitting contest with Tampa Bay's Jonny Gomes, a Casa Grande grad.

A $5 donation is asked for youths and a $10 on the day of the event, Oct. 23. It runs from noon-3 p.m. Camp for a Cure is looking for individual or corporate sponsors willing to make a donation for each home run Gomes hits during batting practice (50 pitches). If interested, call Gregg Adams at 480-9214.
