He’s just a junior, but Casa Grande strong safety Makana Garrigan is already establishing himself as one of the Empire’s top defensive players.
In the Gauchos’ 25-14 win against Healdsburg on Friday night, Garrigan had three interceptions and 13 tackles. He returned one pick 47 yards and returned another 38 yards.
Garrigan leads Casa Grande with six interceptions and 81 tackles (9.0 a game). He has 30 tackles in the Gauchos’ last two games.
“He’s as smart a defensive guy as I’ve ever coached,” Casa Grande coach Trent Herzog said. “He has great football instincts.”
