Rankings for Oct. 13th

No, Corner Kicks didn’t forget today’s predictions, but we just figured with all the rain either A) the games would be rained out (i.e. Petaluma at Sonoma Valley girls for starters; or B) the fields would be so bad a prediction would be impossible.

So, that said, here are the rankings for this week as we nudge our way ever-so-slowly to Nov. 1 – Selection Sunday…

BOYS

1. Windsor (9-0-4)
In reality there are probably only three Empire teams that could win NCS, this is one.

2. Analy (13-2-2)
It’s been a long season and the Tigers need to get their second wind.

3. Santa Rosa (12-2-2)
New coach has led them this far, now is the time the Panthers need on-field leaders.

4. Elsie Allen (5-2-1)
Lobos just keep hanging around waiting for playoffs where they will surprise.

5. Healdsburg (9-6)
Hounds gave Windsor everything they could, but now is no time to coast home.

GIRLS
1. Montgomery (15-1-0)
Just when the Pumas thought they had the Vikes figured out, poof, the ball went in the net.

2. Maria Carrillo (7-2-2)
Ms. Malone came oh, so close to ending it in regulation, but there will be a rematch.

3. Petaluma (7-3-2)
As good as the Gauchos are they aren’t the best team in Petaluma now, Trojans are.

4. Casa Grande (10-2-1)
The bad news is that recent tie at home to Petaluma; good news, they play again.

5. Santa Rosa (9-3-1)
Rosa was going to take its lumps sometime, but just consider it a playoff warmup.
