Windsor’s King may not play vs. Cardinal Newman

Windsor quarterback/safety D.J. King is questionable for the eighth-seeded Jaguars’ meeting against No. 9 Cardinal Newman on Saturday in the first round of the North Coast Section Division II playoffs.
King, one of the Empire’s best two-way players, suffered a severe high ankle sprain in practice Tuesday. He didn’t play in the Jaguars’ 10-7 loss to Analy on Friday. With King out, Windsor gained 142 yards and had its lowest point total since a season-opening 29-0 loss to 10-0 Inderkum.
King hopes to start putting weight on his ankle Wednesday.
“I’m going to do my best to play,” King said. “I’m going to do whatever it takes.”
