Sigler & Chambers combo excel at collegiate level

Patrick Sigler and Evan Chambers were teammates on the same Cardinal Newman High team three years ago. Now they are making an impact on their respective collegiate squads.

Sigler is a red-shirt sophomore defender who has started all 19 games for Cal Poly this season. From his defensive position he has two goals, two assists and has taken 14 shots for Cal Poly which is 8-9-2 as it awaits its position in the Big West Conference tournament. The draw for that event will be held on Saturday.

Chambers, meanwhile, is a junior midfielder for the 13-3-1 Div. III UC Santa Cruz Banana Slugs. Chambers has played in all 17 UCSC games this year, starting 15 of them. He has a goal and four assists.

On the women’s Banana Slugs’ roster is freshman forward Elaine Stanfield from Sonoma Valley High. She has not played this season.
