Girls' basketball rankings

The Empire’s large-school teams have parity the NFL would envy. It’s tough to dinstinguish between teams No. 2-8. So apologies to Casa Grande, Petaluma and Windsor. Maybe next week.

LARGE SCHOOLS
1. Ursuline (12-7): Bears hit a speed bump with loss to Maria Carrillo last week.
2. Montgomery (13-6): Vikings have won seven of their past eight.
3. Analy (12-5): Tigers have reeled off five straight SCL wins since dropping opener.
4. Santa Rosa (12-7): Bertsch and Phillips are tough one-two punch.
5. Maria Carrillo (14-5): Pumas flashed full potential with 16-point win against Ursuline.

SMALL SCHOOLS
1. Cloverdale (18-2): Eagles have 39-6 record in league games in past five years.
2. St. Vincent (15-3): Mustangs inch up a spot with impressive eight-point win over St. Helena.
3. St. Helena (12-5): Tough week — two close losses to the two schools ranked ahead of them.
4. Rincon Valley Christian (12-4): Eagles have won six straight, each by more than 20 points.
5. Willits (12-6): Welcome, Wolverines. Willits moves in on strength of win over previous No. 5 Lower Lake.
