Krist named Petaluma football coach

Posted by Staff Writer Eric Branch:
Longtime Petaluma assistant football coach Rick Krist has been named the Trojans’ head coach.
Krist, 43, who completed his 20th year as an assistant this past season, will replace Steve Ellison, who retired in December after compiling 204 wins in 31 years at the school.
Krist, a former quarterback at Petaluma, is also the co-head coach of the boys’ basketball team. He plans to continue coaching basketball next season.
Krist’s hiring wasn’t a surprise. After his retirement, Ellison said he wanted to Krist to be his successor.
I’ll have a story on Krist’s hiring in Saturday’s paper. (Sorry, stuff came up. I plan to have a story on Krist’s hiring in Sunday’s paper).
