Analy’s Aronis playing hurt

Analy is 27-1, has won 23 straight and looked quite impressive in its 70-54 win over Sonoma on Saturday in the Sonoma County Tournament finals.
But the Tigers will begin defense of its North Coast Section Division III title Tuesday with All-Empire guard Kevin Aronis still dealing with the effects of a wrist injury he suffered in early January.
“It’s still really sore,” Analy coach Brett Page said. “He can block shots and rebound — he can help us in that way. But it’s hard for him to even catch the ball.”
The 6-foot-2 Aronis suffered a bone chip in his right wrist in an overtime win against Casa Grande on Jan. 7 and missed the next three games.
He returned on Jan. 21, but Page said he tweaked the injury three weeks later in a win against Petaluma. On Saturday, his wrist was taped and he appeared hesitant to even high-five his teammates with his right hand.
He scored six points — eight below his season average — and made 1 of 7 free throws. Aronis was averaging 15.9 points in 15 games before the injury. He is averaging 9.6 points in nine games since his return.
