No. 9 Healdsburg (18-10) at No. 1 Salesian (27-1), 7:30 p.m.
About Healdsburg: The Greyhounds had 18 combined wins in the 2007-08 and 2008-09 seasons. Healdsburg also went 6-6 in the Sonoma County League after collecting six combined league wins the previous three years .

. senior Ian Lang is averaging a team-best 13.1 points a game .

. the Greyhounds’ 57-48 win over Marin Catholic on Tuesday was their second straight NCS first-round win. Healdsburg, seeded No. 8, beat No. 9 Fort Bragg, 65-55, in the opening round last year. The Greyhounds met Salesian in the quarterfinals and lost, 80-48.
About Salesian: The Pride are the defending state champions, are ranked No. 3 in the state by CalHiSports and have won 55 of their past 58 games .

. Salesian returns all five starters from last year’s 31-4 team .

. 6-7, 205-pound forward Desmond Simmons has signed with Washington. Simmons averaged 18.5 points and 12.2 rebounds as a junior.

About Cardinal Newman: The Cardinals have a 7-4 record in the NCS playoffs since 2006, losing in the division title game in ‘06 and ‘07 .

. Newman has gone 3-3 since a 19-4 start .

. the Cardinals have won three straight North Bay League titles .

. junior guards Bobby Sharp (15.4 points a game) and Xavier McCall (14.3), the co-MVPs of the NBL, have accounted for 49 percent of Newman’s scoring.
About Arcata: The Tigers don’t have a starter under 6-feet tall .

About St. Mary’s: The Panthers have a 9-1 NCS playoff record since 2007, winning two division titles and finishing runner-up last year .

. 6-4, 200-pound swingman Dominique Lee has signed with Utah .

. Lee, his twin brother, Demetrius, and senior guard Justin Pollard played with Cloverdale’s Robby Rowland on the Bay Area Hoosiers AAU team this past summer.
About Cloverdale: The Eagles, winners of six straight league titles, have won 16 straight .

. Cloverdale has won 72 of its past 79 home games .

. 6-6 senior forward Robby Rowland (26.3 points a game) scored 26 of Cloverdale’s final 33 points in a first-round 61-52 win against No. 11 Lick-Wilmerding. Rowland finished with 32 points and 17 rebounds .

. Rowland and senior guard/forward Jerod Domenichelli (14.6 points) have accounted for 56 percent of the Eagles’ scoring .

. 6-10, 230-pound junior center Brendan Keane scored 10 points in a 61-22 first-round win against No. 16 Leadership .

. junior guard Dominic Lippi, one of the Knights’ top players, is the son of coach Don Lippi .

. junior guard Jacari Whitfield hit a last-second shot to lead the Knights to a 57-55 win over Cloverdale last year in the Division V semifinals.
About Roseland Prep: The Knights have won 16 straight .

. senior guard Josiah Nikkel is averaging 18.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists a game .

. 6-7 junior forward Darin Grayer is averaging 16.0 points, 10.2 rebounds and 4.5 blocks and junior guard Arturo Oregon is averaging 8.2 points and 4.1 rebounds .
