RVC’s Crouse becomes grandpa, then a champion

At 3:30 a.m. Saturday, Rincon Valley Christian coach Doug Crouse, 45, was on the road. At 11 a.m., he was in San Luis Obispo for the birth of his first grandchild. By 5 p.m., he was back in Santa Rosa. And at about 9 p.m., he was celebrating the Eagles’ 61-20 win over Potter Valley in the North Coast Section Division VI finals.
That’s about 560 miles, one grandchild and his program’s first section title in 13 years in a span of 17 1/2 hours.
“It’s been a great day,” Crouse said.
Crouse’s oldest daughter, Hannah, gave birth to a boy, Luke.
