Congrats to SR Central Nomads

Now they have a chance for a three-peat

The Santa Rosa Central Nomads U-13 boys’ soccer team made it two California Youth Soccer Association titles in as many years last Sunday at Danville when they won the annual Association Cup, a tournament for Div. III teams.

The Nomads went 6-0 in the tournament held over three weekends this month. The team was composed mainly of the same players who won the title a year ago in the U-12 level.

The Nomads, coached by Danny Ruiz, were led this year by top scorers Brian Juarez, Oscar Sosa and Cesar Farias. The goalkeeper was Eric Aguilar.

In the championship game, the Nomads defeated the Redwood Peninsula Fury, 5-4. The Menlo Park team had defeated the Nomads in a Bay area tournament earlier in the season.

Two other Sonoma County teams also fared well in this year’s Association Cup.

The Sonoma U-11 boys went 4-1, losing in the semifinals. The Petaluma United Fireballs U-13 girls’ team went 3-2, also losing in the semifinals.
