Petaluma’s streak stops at 40

The Petaluma boys’ tennis team had its 40-match Sonoma County League winning streak snapped last week when the Trojans lost to Healdsburg.
The streak started in 2006 when Petaluma won its final three SCL matches of the season. The Trojans then reeled off three straight 12-0 seasons and won their opener this season before falling to the Greyhounds.
Coach Cliff King said the Trojans are in a bit of a rebuilding year, with five freshmen and one sophomore in the starting lineup.
Still, Petaluma beat Sonoma, 4-3, Tuesday to improve to 3-1 in the SCL. It was also the Trojans’ second straight win — marking the start of a new streak.
