Rowland’s ERA climbs above 0.00

Cloverdale senior Robby Rowland’s bid to become the fourth pitcher in state history to not allow an earned run in a season ended in the Eagles’ 3-2 NCL I South loss at red-hot St. Vincent on Tuesday.
Rowland had opened the season by not allowing an earned run in 40 innings until St. Vincent scored three runs (two earned) in the third. Rowland, who has signed with Oregon, is 4-1 with an 0.32 ERA. He’s allowed 17 hits and struck out 76 in 44 innings.
By the way, St. Vincent (14-3, 4-0) has won 13 straight and has allowed four runs or fewer in 10 straight games. K.C. Pedersen and Jeff Mathews each had two hits and an RBI against Cloverdale. Jeff Kesler struck out seven and allowed one earned run en route to a three-hitter. Kesler is 4-1 with a 2.35 ERA.
