Thank you Mexican fans

Two good things happened along the World Cup road today – Mexico beat France, 2-nil; and the Mexican fans in attendance did all of us a big favor with their cheering. They managed, at times, to actually drown out those obnoxious horns.

It sounded like a real soccer game.

Meanwhile, the French looked old and tired while the Mexican squad was youthful and full of energy. Although the initial goal was clearly offside, the better team, the one that deserved to win did just that.

On Friday morning we have the U.S. in a must-win situation and then England facing a similar scenario.

And, by the way, what’s up with the new soccer ball? Will we see the last of it after this tournament or is it here to stay?
