Sonoma's sweet stink of success

After the Sonoma baseball team began an 11-game winning streak with six straight road wins, the Dragons decided to keep wearing their lucky road uniforms, even during home games.
The catch? The Dragons also insisted on not washing those uniforms until their winning streak was snapped. Well, Sonoma’s streak ended Friday with a 7-1 loss to Petaluma in its regular-season finale.
That begged the question entering this week’s Sonoma County League Tournament at Arnold Field in Sonoma: Would the Dragons finally trade in their ripe road uniforms for home whites?
“That’s a really good question,” Sonoma coach Don Lyons said last week. “I know what I would do.”
Today, Lyons had an answer. His team will sport its whites — and presumably a less pungent aroma — when it hosts Casa Grande in a first-round game Wednesday night.
“It’s time to start a new chapter,” he said.
