Windsor SS Tyler commits to Illinois

Posted by Staff Writer Eric Branch:
Windsor shortstop Kayla Tyler, an incoming senior, has verbally committed to the University of Illinois.
Tyler, the Sonoma County League MVP as a sophomore, is a two-time first-team All-Empire selection who hit .482 with four homers and 20 RBIs this past season to lead the Jaguars to a 19-7 record.
Tyler made an unofficial visit to Illinois in May. She plans to travel to Illinois in November to sign her national letter of intent.
Illinois went 45-8 this past season, finishing second in the Big 10 to Michigan. The Illini advanced to their second straight NCAA Tournament and finished the season ranked 25th in the Softball Top 25 poll.
I’ll have a story on Tyler’s commitment for Friday’s paper.
