Windsor SS Tyler commits to Illinois

Posted by Staff Writer Eric Branch:
Windsor shortstop Kayla Tyler, an incoming senior, has verbally committed to the University of Illinois.
Tyler, the Sonoma County League MVP as a sophomore, is a two-time first-team All-Empire selection who hit .482 with four homers and 20 RBIs this past season to lead the Jaguars to a 19-7 record.
Tyler made an unofficial visit to Illinois in May. She plans to travel to Illinois in November to sign her national letter of intent.
Illinois went 45-8 this past season, finishing second in the Big 10 to Michigan. The Illini advanced to their second straight NCAA Tournament and finished the season ranked 25th in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Top 25 poll.
I’ll have a story on Tyler’s commitment for Friday’s paper.
