Montgomery stars make college decisions

As we aim toward another high school and college soccer season, there is news on the pitch.

Here goes:

– Recent Montgomery graduate Pedro Guevara, arguably one of the Top 5 players in the county, has accepted an offer to attend and play at St. Marys in the fall. A talented midfielder with a quick, rocket shot, despite his size (small) Pedro is going to surprise some folks at the collegiate level.

– Roseland Prep’s Juan Machuca, a stellar defender for the Knights, will be headed to play at Sacramento State in the fall.

– Montgomery’s Nico Spann, who will be a senior at Montgomery this year, commited a week ago to attend and play at Loyola Marymount in 2009.

– Cody Middleman will be playing soccer at the College of Marin in the fall.

– Jon Delano has resigned his position on the Santa Rosa United coaching staff and board of directors effective immediately. Delano will devote his full attention to his positions as head women’s soccer coach / development coordinator at Dominican University in San Rafael.
