Nothing fake about Pumas; Friday's (10/10) predictions

At this point, early Friday, I still don’t know the Maria Carrillo/Santa Rosa men’s final. All I do know is that it was 3-0 Pumas a halftime, the wind was howling at times and it was cold.
And I am now convinced that the Pumas are pretty much unbeatable on the fake turf. They are just too skilled, too fast and too deep when they get on a dry, even, artificial surface. On real grass, that can be a different story – they are slowed down, the bounces aren’t true and the opposition can play a different game against them.
So, the postseason could be a foregone conclusion if the Pumas walk on to an artificial surface all the way through.
Elsewhere on Thursday, Sonoma Valley proved it can play with anyone on their natural grass field when they tied Windsor, 1-1, in overtime. The result just means the SCL is still the more competitive league with the Jaguars, Dragons, Greyhounds and Tigers all capable of winning.
And Cardinal Newman’s season took a big hit when the Cardinals were shutout, 4-0, at home by Elsie Allen. The Lobos? They aren’t going to win the NCS or the NBL, but no one should overlook them come playoff time.
