Sterling steps down at SCA; Andrew Ziemer offered position

Following is a press release from the Sonoma County Alliance soccer club. We’ll have follow-up blog items on this in the near future:

During the process of renewing the Director of Coaching contract, SCA’s current DOC, Josh Sterling, withdrew his application to return as the club’s 2009-2010 DOC.

Josh was instrumental in establishing SCA seven years ago. It was his vision and passion that helped bring a higher level of competitive soccer to southern Sonoma County.

In making this difficult decision, Josh would like to tell everyone, “I am very proud of what SCA has become while under my watch for the past 7 years. I want to thank all players, parents, volunteers and most of all the coaches for their help throughout the years. Unfortunately, the demands of the job have taken over my life. It is time to put my family and myself first.”

The Board wishes to strongly express their gratitude for everything that Josh has done for SCA during the past 7 years of phenomenal growth. It is with great sadness that the Board makes this announcement and we wish him luck in all his future endeavors.

Josh will continue in the DOC position until the end of his contract, March 31, 2009 and has offered to help SCA in other areas outside of the DOC position for the upcoming year.

The Board has offered the Director of Coaching position to Andrew Ziemer. Andrew has been with SCA for the past four years as the Assistant DOC. His credentials, experience, and dedication to the club will bring success to the next phase of SCA soccer and make the transition to a new DOC a smooth one.
