Sol win first league game

The Sonoma County Sol, a semi-professional soccer team in the National Premiere Soccer League, won their first league game of the season Saturday, defeating La Marinda United, 2-0.

Former Piner and Sonoma State athlete Brandon Boone scored the first goal for the Sol in the 43rd minute. The second goal of the game was scored by former SSU star Ross Middlemiss in the 80th minute. Juan Carlos Sosa, who played at Elsie Allen and SSU, had the shutout in goal.

The next game for the Sol (1-0) is Sunday, May 10 at 4 p.m. vs. Real San Jose at Santa Rosa High School.
