Calistoga's classy act

0170KENTFIELD – Walked away from the Calistoga game feeling nothing but one word for the Wildcats and their suppporters – class.

Head coach Carlos Garcia, with the support of Calistoga High principal Kevin Eisenberg,  has assembled a first-class program. A lot of times there is some part of the puzzle or other missing, but not here. From the uniforms to their on-the-field demeanor to their sportsmanship after the game, this is a program to be emulated throughout the Empire….

Ultimately, Garcia could not answer Branson’s height. With only senior Andres Hernandez, all 6-foot-2 of him, playing sweeper, as the only player to balance out Branson’s size advantage, the Bulls were able to wear down the Wildcats….

You kind of have a hunch that this Calistoga/Branson matchup is one rivalry that is just heating up…

Calistoga High star a year ago, Edwin Meza, played this season at Jefferson (Mo.) College. A forward, he finished his freshman season at the JC with a pair of goals and three assists in 15 games. Jefferson finished the regular season with a 15-3 record.
