Classic early-season matchup: Vikings vs. Pumas

Maria Carrillo’s Katie Mohr

It couldn’t get much better for the opening day of the North Bay League girls soccer season: Montgomery at Maria Carrillo, 6:30 p.m. Friday.

“Perfect way to open the season,” said Carrillo head coach Debra LaPrath. “Couldn’t get any better.”

The Pumas, 4-0 in preseason, are coming off a 4-0 win over Petaluma on Tuesday night.

“We have some players banged up a little, but we’ll be fine,” LaPrath said.

The Vikings, led by head coach Pat McDonald, are 3-0-2 as they head into the match that will determine the early-season NBL leader.

“We’re still coming together, but it’ll be a good game,” McDonald said.

The two teams play again at Montgomery on Oct. 6.
