Lobos, Tigers and kickers highlight weekend football

Looking for some highlights from Week 2 of Empire high school football? Here you go:

– For starters, how about Elsie Allen staying close with Vacaville Christian.

The Lobos big-play offense included long TD runs from Marlon Whitmore and Ryan Yazel and a pair of deep scoring passes to David Nwagbarra.

– And then there was the Analy offense. The Tiger’ prolific pass-and-catch pair of Jake Zanutto and Julian Titus-Patino proved to be too difficult to stop even when it was a primary focus for opposing defenses. Piner learned all about that Friday night

Zanutto – 10-13 for 176 yards and five TDs against the Prospectors – could top the 26 touchdown passes he threw last season, second in the North Coast Section.

And Titus-Patino – 7 catches for 129 yards and three scores against Piner – should eclipse his receiving totals from a year ago.

– And let’s not forget the kickers.

A pair of impressive field goals also stood out in weekend boxscores. Lee Aranda booted a 41-yarder with room to spare in Windsor’s win over Redwood. And Dylan Severson hit one from 33 yards out in Sonoma Valley’s comeback victory over Terra Linda.
