Important week for girls soccer underway

Rincon Valley Christian and Roseland University Prep kicked off what promises to be another exciting week of high school girls soccer on Monday afternoon.

The highlights of the week:

– Maria Carrillo, arguably the Empire’s top girls’ team, travels to Ursuline for a 7 p.m. shootout on Saturday. The Bears shocked Casa Grande last week and appear ready for their most significant test of the season.

– Montgomery gets a tuneup on Wednesday when the Vikings play host to Ukiah (4 p.m.) before they head east.

Well, not too far east as they play at Bingham, Utah, on Friday and then at Alta, Utah, on Saturday before returning home to resume North Bay League play next week.

– Sonoma Valley will welcome Sonoma Academy at 5 p.m. Friday as the Coyotes, elevated to large-school status this season, will try to pull off the upset over the homestanding Dragons.

– Petaluma, trying to put together a decent season, entertains Analy at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

– And Healdsburg travels to Casa Grande (7 p.m.) on Wednesday and then entertains Windsor at 7 p.m. Friday at Rec Park.
