The Maria Carrillo High girls soccer team remained perfect on Saturday night, but it wasn’t as easy as the final score might have indicated.

Leading 1-0 at halftime on a Sarah Sullivan goal, the Pumas were constantly under attack by the Ursuline Bears’ offense as the homestanding Bears came close to scoring at least four times in the second half only to be denied by the Pumas’ defense.

Maria Carrillo got a second-half goal from Rachel Sellner off a Katie Mohr assist for some breathing room.

The Pumas, now 7-0, played without the services of junior Sara Tosti who was out of town on a college visit.

Maria Carrillo plays at home this week on Wednesday and Friday entertaining Ukiah and Piner respectively.

The Pumas will meet Ursuline again at Carrillo on Oct. 13.

The Bears play Piner at home on Wednesday and then travel to Santa Rosa on Friday night.
