Hurst representing Piner well at SRJC

Back for an encore with the Santa Rosa Junior College team, former Piner high and All-Empire prep soccer standout Tyler Hurst is playing strong in the middle of the Bear Cubs offense.

With six goals and two assists, Hurst is averaging a point per contest for the Bear Cubs. He had two scores and set up another goal in Thursday’s 3-0 win over Napa Valley College.

Hurst played for Santa Rosa in 2004 when the Bear Cubs lost in the California junior college state final four. Since he hasn’t played college soccer since, Hurst retained eligibility.

Feeling back home on Santa Rosa’s pitch, Hurst this time gets to play on the Bear Cubs’ all-weather turf field, so he can count on no rainouts.
