Bentley gains 49er honor

Returning a pair of interceptions for touchdowns was good enough to earn Casa Grande defensive back Steve Bentley a San Francisco 49ers high school player of the week honor.

Bentley’s scores – covering 69 and 65 yards – proved to be the difference in a 21-7 win over Montgomery.

The junior is one of Casa Grande’s top tacklers on the year, as the Gauchos have started 4-0.

The honor includes a $500 grant for the Casa Grande football program. Bentley receives a trophy, a certificate signed by 49ers head coach Mike Singletary, two tickets to a 49ers home game, a hat and T-shirt, plus a visit to the 49er’s training facility.
