Montgomery grad Spann scores in SSU men’s soccer win

Nico Spann, a redshirt freshman from Montgomery High, scored in the 39th minute on Friday afternoon when he gathered in a rebound off a shot and scored the first Sonoma State goal in a 2-1 CCAA win over No. 14-ranked Chico State at SSU.

SSU (7-4-0, 5-4-0) scored again early in the second half on a goal by Piner High product Trevor Hurst. It was Hurst’s team-leading seventh goal of the season.

The Wildcats dropped to 8-3-0, 6-3-0 in the CCAA with the defeat.

SSU returns to action Sunday at 11:30 a.m. against CSU Stanislaus.
