Scorers To Watch For In Empire Girls Basketball

Scoring 30 points in a high school basketball contest is difficult even for prolific shooters, yet Jordan Henry from Ursuline and Katy Lowry for Analy have a handful between them just a month into the season.

The sharp shooting guards each put up their highest point totals on Tuesday. Henry scored 35 in Ursuline’s win over Hercules for third place in the Anne Scott Tournament at Drake High School. Scorching the home court nets for 37, Lowry led Analy over San Marin.

Both players have improved their range. Not content to stay outside, they also have developed better inside shots off drives to the basket, often resulting in more free throws.

Henry – 24 points a game — is the better known of the pair, one of three returning All-Empire first team players in the North Bay League.

Analy’s second leading scorer a year ago, Lowry is an even more complete player this season. Out from the shadow of teammate and All-Empire Player of the Year Jen Tsurumoto, who graduated, Lowry leads the Tigers in steals in addition to topping the scoring column with 17 points each outing.
