Empire Football Players Named To All-State Teams

Rancho Cotate running back Brian Dworkin heads a group of Empire athletes named to Cal-Hi Sports All-State Football teams for California.

The Cougars’ record setting back was named to the all-state third team after helping lead Rancho Cotate to the North Coast Section Division 2 championship game.

Earning second team honors for Medium Schools were a pair of Cardinal Newman players, running back Stephen Tomasin and defensive back Tim Moreno. Tomasin also was named to the junior class third team. The Cardinals won the NCS Division 3 title.

Middletown linebacker Jake Davis earned first team honors for Small Schools. The Mustangs reached the NCS Division 4 championship contest.

Also named to the Small Schools all-state squad was Fort Bragg defensive back Cody Ryden, who earned second team honors. The Timberwolves reached the NCS Division 4 playoffs.

Another underclassmen earning recognition was Rancho Cotate lineman Nick Reynolds, named to the sophomore second team.
