Tremors have one more mountain to climb

For head coach Martin Perez and his Santa Rosa United U-11 girls Tremors, a win on Saturday (1:30 p.m. kickoff) in the NorCal State Cup championship game at Woodland would cap an incredibly successful season.

The Tremors enter the game with a 49-5-10 overall mark and win No. 50 would be a perfect ending.

They have also won three tournaments including the Cal Cup. But now they’ll have to do it against the Manteca FC Newcastle without one of the Tremors best players, Jordan Girman.

“Jordan broke her foot,” Perez said of his stellar midfielder, “but she’ll be there cheering us on.”

The Tremors split a pair of games with Manteca during the season, losing 1-0 in the semifinals of a tournament at Danville and then winning 3-2 in the Elite 8 tournament later in the season.

For both teams the season ends on Saturday. There is no regional event after the NorCal state cup.
