Ben Freeland scored 22 points and Alec Kobre added 19 as Montgomery turned a close game into a rout Friday night with a 74-52 victory over visiting Dublin in the North Coast Section quarterfinals.

The Vikings, the top seed in Division 2, advanced to Wednesday’s semifinal in which they will meet fifth-seeded Northgate, a 47-46 winner Friday over No. 4 Pinole Valley.

Although they never trailed in Friday’s contest, the Vikings held just a 25-21 lead at halftime.

That changed when Zack Templeton, who scored 14 points, all in the second half, nailed a couple of 3-pointers to ignite Montgomery in the third quarter. The Vikings outscored Dublin, 24-13, to carry a 49-34 lead into the fourth quarter.

Montgomery (26-2) kept pouring it on, leading by as many 28 points in the fourth quarter. Freeland scored 15 of his 22 points in the second half.
