At Palo Cedro, Analy lost to Foothill, 79-59, in a game that was closer than the final scored indicated Tuesday in the first round of the CIF Division III state basketball playoffs.

Max Fujii scored 23 points to lead Analy. He had 16 points in the first half and helped Analy rally from a 28-15 deficit and go into intermission with a two-point lead, 36-34.

Analy built its lead to four early in the third quarter, but despite a strong performance from Eli Alcantar, who scored 12 of his 16 points in the third, Foothill finished strong and took a three-point lead into the final frame.

Foothill, which hit 10 3-pointers in the game, pushed its lead to double digits in the fourth quarter before a late run of free throws pushed the lead to 20.

“They closed out on us in the fourth quarter and made all the hustle plays,” Analy coach Brett Page said. “It was a good win for them.”

Alcantar finished with 16 points.

Analy’s season ends with a final record of 20-10. Foothill High (22-6) has won nine of its past 10 games and advances to play No. 1 seed Sacramento (26-5).
