The six games over 30 was one better than Analy’s Max Fujii.

Meiswinkel’s most eye-opening offensive outburst came Jan. 25 against eventual North Central I-South champion St. Helena. The 5-foot-11 guard scored 22 points in the eight-minute quarter as the Mustangs rallied for a 67-64 victory.
The senior, who averaged 21.7 points a game, scored a majority of his points inside the 3-point line. He nailed 51 long balls in 25 games. Fujii, who averaged 23.2, hit 98 from beyond the arc.

Meiswinkel scored 1,065 points in three years on the St. Vincent varsity and the Mustangs didn’t average more than 53 points in any of those seasons.

“Mike transferred to St. Vincent as a sophomore,” coach Lance Phillips said. “He learned the program and then just took over.

“He wanted to be the go-to guy and that’s what he became. He deserves all the accolades he gets. He’s a social kid; a team leader and it was a pleasure coaching him.”

Meiswinkel was a three-sport letterman every year at the Petaluma school. He also played football and baseball.
