The San Jose Earthquakes defeated West Bromwich Albion of the English Premier League 2-1 in an international friendly on Tuesday at Buck Shaw Stadium.

Quakes goalkeeper David Bingham had the play of the night, sending the ball over 90 yards for a goal after the ball bounced over West Brom net minder Boaz Myhill in the third minute Khari Stephenson tacked on the eventual game winner in the 45th minute, smashing a shot from 35 yards that darted past Myhill just before the half to give San Jose a 2-0 lead. Jerome Thomas scored the lone goal forWest Bromeight minutes into the second half.

The win wasSan Jose’s first against an English Premier League opponent. The Quakes previously drew 0-0 against club partner Tottenham Hotspur on July 17, 2010 at Buck Shaw Stadium and tied 1-1 against Aston Villa on May 13, 1997 at Spartan Stadium.
