David Vigil scored twice to lead unbeaten Analy past Casa Grande, 3-1, in an SCL boys soccer match Wednesday.
The Gauchos scored first when Paul Proctor found the ball at his feet from a poor clearance. He pushed it past a defender, creating enough space to blast in the first goal of the game in the eighth minute of the first half.
The level of physicality picked up, with Analy pushing the tempo in an attempt to put one on the scoreboard. Late in the first half, Augustin Reyes played a dangerous ball into the box, taking a bounce and finding the chest of Vigil. Vigil half-volleyed a shot, taking a deflection off a Casa Grande defender and past the keeper to tie the game at 1-1.
Analy struck quickly in the second half, scoring at the two-minute mark when Reyes found a ball at the top of the box and drove it off the post and out of the keeper’s reach to put the Tigers ahead, 2-1.
Analy struck again with 22 minutes left in the second half. Armando Coronel took on multiple defenders in the box to create a shot for Vigil, who scored his second of the game for the Tigers.
