Luna, Lane earn Nor-Cal honors

The Empire’s top prep cross country runners have been selected to the All Nor-Cal team led by Luis Luna of Piner, who made the boys top squad.

Luna capped his great Piner career capturing seventh at the Foot Locker Cross Country Championships West Regional and running in the National Championships, where he placed 30th.

Alex Conner of Sonoma Valley was selected to the All Nor-Cal boys’ second team. Conner followed up a second-place finish at the North Coast Section Division 3 championships with a sixth at the California Interscholastic Federation finals.

Making the All Nor-Cal boys’ third team was Paul Holden of Ukiah. The junior was second in NCS Division 2 and 28th at the state meet.

Another junior, Jaime Silva of Piner, made honorable mention after finishing fourth in NCS Division 3 and 26th in the state finals.

On the girls’ side, Nicole Lane of El Molino was selected to the All Nor-Cal girls’ second team.

Lane, a senior, finished 41st at the Foot Locker Cross Country Championships West Regional after winning the NCS Division 4 race and placing seventh at the state meet.

Making the All Nor-Cal girls’ freshman squad was Andrea Natoli of Maria Carrillo. Natoli was third in NCS Division 2 and 38th at the state finals.
