SCL boys basketball: Casa defeats El Molino

Forestville — In the last boys basketball game that Casa Grande and El Molino will play as Sonoma County League opponents, the Gauchos continued their dominance of the Lions with a 62-42 win Tuesday night. The Gauchos, who had 15 steals, were led by senior Matt Stafford’s 17 points.

Casa Grande took the lead for good at 12-10 and didn’t look back. After one quarter, the Gauchos led 15-11.

Casa clamped down on the defensive end, holding the Lions to eight points in the second quarter, six of those points coming on two 3-pointers. At halftime, Casa’s lead was 27-19.

El Molino was led by senior Will Plaugher’s 11 points.

The win keeps the Gauchos tied for third place in the SCL with Healdsburg at 3-3. El Molino slips to a tie for fifth place with Sonoma valley at 2-5.
