League basketball tournaments tip off tonight, starting with the North Bay League girls.

Top seed Maria Carrillo (21-5, 13-1) hosts No. 4 Cardinal Newman (14-13, 7-7), while No. 3 Montgomery (19-7, 11-3) travels to No. 2 Santa Rosa (18-8, 12-2). Both games start at 7 p.m.

The winners of tonight’s games will face off at 6:30 p.m. Friday at SRJC.

The NBL boys start tournament play on Wednesday, with No. 1 Montgomery (18-8, 12-2) hosting No. 4 Rancho Cotate (14-12, 8-6) and No. 3 Maria Carrillo playing at No. 2 Cardinal Newman.

Both the boys matchups are reruns of games played last week. The Vikings won at Rancho Cotate on Thursday, 38-34, while the Cardinals beat the visiting Pumas on Wednesday, 64-57.

The winners of Wednesday’s games will play Friday at SRJC, following the girls title game, around 8:15 if everything goes as planned.

Also starting play Wednesday are the Sonoma County League girls. Casa Grande (25-1, 12-0), the runaway favorite to win the tournament, opens with a home game against Sonoma Valley (12-14, 6-6). In the other game, Analy (14-11, 7-5) travels to Healdsburg (15-9, 8-4). Healdsburg took both games from Analy during the regular season.

The winners of the first-round games play at 6 p.m. Saturday at SRJC.

The SCL boys get started Thursday, with Windsor (22-4, 11-1) hosting Healdsburg and Casa Grande (15-11, 7-5) traveling to Analy (17-9, 11-1). Both games are at 7 p.m., with the winners playing Saturday at SRJC, following the girls game.

In the North Central League II, the entire league participates in the tournament, which begins tonight with a slate of four games for the boys and four from the girls.

The favorites in the NCL II tournament have to be St. Vincent de Paul and Rincon Valley Christian on the boys side. The Mustangs (18-7, 13-1) and Eagles (19-7, 13-1) split their games against each other but otherwise went undefeated in league.

On the girls side, the Mustangs (22-4, 14-0) ran the table in league play, with Sonoma Academy (24-2, 12-2) providing the stiffest competition. The Coyotes lost by just a single point when the two schools faced off Jan. 6.

The boys and girls semifinals are set for Thursday at Sonoma Academy, starting at 4 p.m., while the finals are Saturday. The girls final is at 7 and the boys start afterward, around 8:30.
