SRJC notebook: Five will be inducted into Hall of Fame on Saturday


Santa Rosa Junior College’s Bear Cub Athletic Trust will induct five people into its Hall of Fame on Saturday night.

This year’s inductees are:

Byron Craighead, who spent 36 years serving as a physical education instructor and certified athletic trainer for the college’s 20 sports prgrams.

Trina Cox, a two-sport star who set records and won NorCal and state titles in cross country in track from 2001 to 2003.

Tom Daniels, a decathlete who excelled in 1957 and 1958, setting the school shot put record.

Jason Craighead, who received numerous All-American designations and set seven individual school records as a member of the swim and dive team in the mid-1990s. Craighead also starred in water polo after returning to the JC in 2000.

David Montano, an All-American wrestler at 118 pounds in 1983 who was also a two-time team MVP.


SRJC women’s basketball player Jen Tsurumoto was named women’s honorable mention when the California Community College Athletic Association named its athletes of the month for February.

Tsurumoto, a sophomore who starred at Analy, had 16 points, 11 rebounds and six assists against Ohlone to lead the Bear Cubs into the quarterfinals of the CCCAA Northern California Regional. Tsurumoto was also named Big 8 MVP and first-team all-state.
