Empire freshmen, sophomore, junior wrestlers place at state meet

Wrestlers from Sonoma County League and North Bay League schools placed at last weekend's California USA Wrestling Frosh/Soph and Junior State Championships in Fresno. The meet is designed to pit the state's top young wrestlers against other athletes at their own grade level.

The wrestlers participate in two grade levels, freshman/sophomore and junior.

Placing third were Montgomery sophomore Dennis Layden at 100 pounds, Windsor sophomore Perez Perez at 106 pounds and Windsor sophomore Salvador Carrillo at 285 pounds. Layden and Perez took third both at the junior and freshman/sophomore levels. Carrillo took third at the junior level.

Placing fourth were Rancho Cotate sophomore Brian Guerrero at 113 pounds, Maria Carrillo sophomore Evan Bluestone at 126 pounds and Windsor junior Isai Guzman at 170 pounds.

Placing fifth was Windsor sophomore Trevor Silva at 138 pounds.

Placing sixth were Windsor junior Logan Fore at 126 pounds and Maria Carrillo sophomore Ramon Contreras at 160 pounds.

Placing eighth at 113 pounds was Windsor freshman Noah Au-Yeung at 113 pounds.
